This evening the Institute of Contemporary Art hosted a panel discussion entitled Green-Blue: The New Tory Environmentalism. The panel consisted of George Monbiot, Guardian columnist and author of Heat: How We Can Stop the Planet Burning; Tim Yeo, Conservative MP for Suffolk South and chair of the Environmental Audit Committee; Paul Kingsnorth, author of Real England: The Battle Against the Bland; Peter Hall, environmentalist, ethical fund-manager and member of the Conservative party’s approved list of parliamentary candidates. Chair: Julian Baggini, editor of The Philosophers’ Magazine and author of Welcome to Everytown: A Journey into the English Mind.
The panel from right to left Peter Hall, Paul Kingsnorth, Julian Baggnini, Tim Yeo and George Monbiot.
Each panel member was given eight minutes to present their case followed by a question and answer session. The mai colclusions were that there is not a lot of time to get the world in order as there is a real risk that the human race could become extinct. There was no clear agenda for dealing with this though – unsurprisingly.

George Monbiot (self proclaimed posh git)
The bottom line is that some hard choices are needed but there does not seem to be the political will to tackle climte change or environmental damage caused by human activities.
