HP have just released a new PC that is based on touch screen technology. There is a keyboard but it is ‘hidden’ away. The main idea is that increasingly the main functions that need to be carried out on a computer can be done by direct interaction with the screen rather than using a keyboard.

Again this demonstrates the potential for combining touch screen technology with a computer device and also the incremental move away from reliance on the keyboard. Designers are obviously starting to think that the keyboard is a thing of the past.

I found this universal remote control in Curry’s in Canary Wharf. It was interesting because it is a combination of physical buttons and touchscreen technology. The touch screen functionality changes depending on the buttons pressed as it emulates a number of different configutrations.
Looking at the previous post (the keyboard with the integrated card reader) I think there is some scope for a keyboard with an intergrated touchscreen device. This could be fairly simple to achieve and be able to perform a multitude of functions depending on circumstances and individual needs.
